Barbara Fuchs, Distinguished Professor of English and Spanish at UCLA, directs the Diversifying the Classics project, which produces and stages new translations of Golden Age Hispanic plays and introduces them to new audiences. Accompanying a staged reading of a new Lope de Vega translation – https://www.redbulltheater.com/the-beast-of-hungary – Professor Fuchs will talk about her experiences with translation, staging, and building bridges between scholarship, theater artists, and local communities.

This talk is co-sponsored by English, Global Early Modern Studies (GEMS), Theater, and Latin American, Iberian, and Latino Cultures (LAILAC).
