This freelance role (1099) is responsible for ordering, cataloguing, and mailing books for review in Renaissance Quarterly (RQ) the leading international journal of Renaissance studies. The role reports to the journal’s Managing Editor and Book Reviews Manager, and includes a weekly virtual check-in meeting to provide updates and track the reviews cycle.
• Order books and request review copies from publishers over email and through publisher forms, as indicated by Managing Editor and Book Reviews Manager; update Notion and Zotero accordingly when books are ordered. Update publisher contact sheet and ordering information as needed.
• Catalogue new book arrivals in Zotero/Notion, including in-office books as well as digital editions; ensure that catalogued books are properly recorded and stored in RQ Dropbox files.
• Mail books from the RQ office in the CUNY Graduate Center in midtown Manhattan to reviewers; update Notion/Zotero and Slack when book mailings are completed.
Preference for this freelance position will be given to advanced graduate students enrolled in the CUNY Graduate Center Global Early Modern Studies certificate program.
