Feb 14 | Talk by Jane Tylus
Featuring a special event featuring Professor Jane Tylus, a renowned scholar in Renaissance studies and translation.
Wednesday, February 14th, 3pm
Comparative Literature Program Lounge (Room 4116)
Professor Tylus, currently at Yale University, is a distinguished expert in early modern Italian literature, with a focus on women’s authorship, religious culture, and translation studies. Her work bridges the Renaissance and contemporary scholarship, exploring the legacies of figures like Gaspara Stampa and Lucrezia Tornabuoni. She has authored and translated several pivotal works, which illuminates women’s voices in spiritual and literary traditions.
This event will feature her insights into women’s authorship and translation from the Renaissance to today, addressing how early modern female writers navigated the complexities of authorship and how their works resonate in contemporary literature.
We warmly invite all faculty and students with an interest in early modern studies, Renaissance literature, or translation theory to join us for what promises to be a thought-provoking discussion.
