Assistant Professor of Early Modern Drama, Tenure-Track

Position Summary: The Department of English at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in early modern drama, to beginAugust 1, 2017. Broad knowledge of the dramatic canon and non-dramatic Renaissance literature is expected. We welcome diverse critical approaches and specializations, including but not limited to digital humanities. All applicants should show evidence of a strong research program, a commitment to working with students from diverse backgrounds, and excellence in teaching.
The Carnegie Foundation classifies UNCG as a high research university and a community-engaged institution. In addition to the BA, the English Department offers the MA, MFA, and PhD degrees. The average teaching load is 2/2, with courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as active engagement with MA and PhD candidates. The department’s membership in the Folger Institute Consortium offers many opportunities for faculty and graduate students to participate in its vibrant research programs in pre-1800 literature and digital humanities.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have a PhD in hand or expected by August 2017 in English or Comparative Literature. Candidates for whom the PhD has not been conferred as of 8/1/2017 will be initially appointed at the rank of non-tenure track Instructor. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
