Oct 2 | UAlbany-CUNY 2017 Digital Humanities Research Collaboration Forum

The University at Albany and The Graduate Center at the City University of New York (CUNY) are pleased to invite you to a Digital Humanities Research Forum[goo.gl] on Monday, October 2, 2017 from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm in the D’Ambra Auditorium on UAlbany’s Uptown Campus.
At the cross-section of the humanities and digital technology, Digital Humanities is bringing together faculty scholars and researchers to explore and better understand art, music, history, philosophy, literature, religion, and language through digital resources and other forms of information technology. Reciprocally, the humanities is helping to shape the fast, emerging field of digital technology. Through transdisciplinary approaches, Digital Humanities forms the basis for novel opportunities for collaborative research, training and scholarship, as well as a wide range of opportunities to pursue extramural funding.
The Digital Humanities Research Forum will focus on two collaborative funding opportunities. The ultimate goal of the Forum is to identify these opportunities, the participants, and leaders for each. At the Forum, you will have an opportunity to:

  • Hear about the Digital Humanities scholarly areas of expertise and programs across our campuses – from both a research/scholarly and classroom perspective.
  • Engage and interact with colleagues spanning the disciplines of the humanities and digital technology.
  • Learn about the breadth of funding opportunities in Digital Humanities
  • Participate in breakout discussions that will lead to multi-investigator research, training and scholarship extramural funding pursuits in the following programs:
    1. NSF Cyber-Human Systems Program – Pertaining to relationships between humans and technology with the goal of advancing human capabilities – perceptual and cognitive, physical and virtual, social and societal.
    2. NSF-NEH Documenting Endangered Languages Program – Support for fieldwork and other activities relevant to the digital recording, documenting and archiving of endangered languages.
    3. Other NEH Opportunities – Additional funding opportunities in digital humanities supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) will be discussed or brought to your attention.
  • Be a part of an evolving interinstitutional collaboration between UAlbany and The Graduate Center at the City University of New York.
